An Iowa City man was taken into custody Monday afternoon on a criminal mischief warrant when he went to the Coralville Police Department to report an issue with his separated wife.
The original complaint indicates that 37-year-old Quinton Fitzgerald went to the woman’s residence on Hawaii Court May 9th shortly after 11:20pm. The two reportedly got into an argument, and while there Fitzgerald allegedly damaged the door frame and screen door into her residence by kicking the doors out of anger. The woman’s children were present at the time, and the woman, who had a no-contact order against Fitzgerald, became scared and thought he was going to harm her.
Approximate damage to the door frame and screen was $350. Fitzgerald was charged with violation of the no-contact order and 4th degree criminal mischief, a serious misdemeanor.
Then just after 4pm Monday, Fitzgerald went to the Coralville Police Department on 5th Street to report a civil issue with his separated spouse. The woman also present, in the parking lot.
Police arrested Fitzgerald on the criminal mischief warrant and charged him with a second violation of no-contact order. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to a year in jail.
