A fire Wednesday afternoon caused extensive damage to a structure in the northwest part of Cedar Rapids and displaced residents there.
FIre personnel were called to the 400 block of 18th Street Northwest when a neighbor reported smoke coming from a residence’s roof. Personnel ventilated the attic and were able to extinguish the fire, but significant smoke and water damage occurred throughout the home.
Three people were in the home at the time of the fire; they were able to get out without any medical treatment required.
THe CRFD has not provided a damage estimate, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
