The Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers Market will be reopening in June, but how you’ll shop will be different.
The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance announced that the first two Saturday dates, June 6 and June 20, will be drive-through only.
The Gazette reports that only vendors selling food and farm products will be participating , and customers will order online in the days before the market, then pick up their orders from their car between 7:30 and noon. Customer will be required to remain in their car; vendors will place orders in the vehicle’s trunk.
The Farmers Market will reevaluate this procedure after the June 20th date.
Earlier, Iowa City announced they would do basically the same thing with this Saturday’s farmer’s market. Other cities have announced their plans to roll out Farmer’s Markets either later this month or in June.
