An Iowa City man was taken into custody after a domestic incident Friday night at the Town and Campus Apartments.
According to police, the incident involved 41-year-old Juan Pizarro and his significant other of five years. The woman called police at 10:20pm and informed them that Pizarro had struck her and left the apartment on Arthur Street.
When speaking with the woman upon arrival, officers were told that she was in bed on the phone with a friend when Pizarro entered the room and took the phone away from her. She took the phone back and attempted to exit the bedroom, but Pizarro allegedly then pushed her down to the ground, causing her to strike the back of her head. The woman complained of pain and a sudden onset of headache due to the alleged assault.
