An Iowa City man who allegedly threatened to shoot up the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Wednesday has been taken into custody.
According to reports, 54-year-old Brian Hentges of Walden Court was on the Hawkins Drive property at approximately 12:10 pm, when according to witnesses, said “I might as well shoot it up and everyone in this place.”
The statements allegedly made by Hentges caused panic, alarm and fear to the individuals involved, and under Miranda, Hentges told the officer that he told a group of people that he would shoot someone.
Hentges was charged with first degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term of up to two years if convicted.
