A Cedar Rapids man has been taken into custody after he allegedly pointed a revolver at a victim’s head during an incident in Iowa City last month.
Arrest reports indicate that 20-year-old Desmond Westbrook of First Street Southwest had the altercation with the victim in the 1400 block of Esther Street after 5pm on March 6th.
The two parties were engaged in a physical fight, at which time Westbrook allegedly pointed a loaded revolver at the victim, and said something to the effect of “how about I shoot you?”
Police say Westbrook pulled the trigger on an empty chamber while the firearm was still pointed at the victim’s head. He left the scene before police arrived and was not immediately located.
A warrant for Westbrook’s arrest was issued on April 6th and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail at approximately 12:45am Thursday. He’s been initially charged with 1st Degree Harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
