A fundraiser for a former University of Iowa football player and Coralville resident has gone above its goal in under 24 hours.
Mikkel Brown and his family lost most of their belongings and two cats in a devastating fire Tuesday. They escaped injury, but in light of the coronavirus pandemic, further stress has been placed on Brown’s family.
A GoFundMe account was set up later that day with a goal of $30,000, and as of this morning, donations have topped $34,400.
In a note on the website, organizer Andy Landgrebe says the family wanted to pass on how absolutely floored and grateful they are for all your donations. The page is being kept up for additional donations.
