The Richard O. Jacobsen Foundation has donated $2 million to University of Iowa Health Care to help with urgent needs in fighting COVID-19.
A release from the University says the money will be used for current and future expenses associated with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the COVID-19 virus. Other funds will be directed to help front line health care workers with emergency childcare, housing and food costs.
Suresh Goona-sekrum, the CEO of UI Hospitals and Clinics, said that the donation will be a great help for health care workers, as well as supporting the research already underway for treatment and prevention of COVID-19.
The Jacobsen Foundation was created in 1976 by UI alumnus Richard Jacobsen, who graduated in 1958.
