Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds Wednesday announced the largest one-day jump in COVID-19 cases, as total cases reach just shy of 1900.

There are now a total of 1899 cases, more than double than there were nine days ago.

During her daily news conference, Reynolds said 189 new cases were confirmed. Of those, 86 were from an outbreak discovered at the Tyson plant in Louisa County.

The governor also announced three additional outbreaks at long term care facilities; two in Polk County and one in Bremer County.

Currently 163 people are hospitalized with the coronavirus, while 790 have recovered or are recovering at home, a 42% rate.  Six additional deaths were announced, for a total of 49.

17,467 people have tested negative for COVID-19.

Reynolds also announced a new site with more details on a county-by-county basis that was to be rolled out by the end of the day Wednesday. It can be accessed at www.coronavirus.iowa.gov.
