73 New COVID-19 cases announced in Iowa

State Health Department officials announced Tuesday that the number of coronavirus cases jumped by 72, bringing the total to 497.

One additional death was reported, a Muscatine County resident between the ages of 41-60.The state now has seven fatalities from the virus.

Linn County now has an additional 19 cases, bringing their total to 90; Johnson County only reported three new cases, bringing their total to 73, while Polk County has now overtaken Johnson County and has a total of 76 cases.

57 of Iowa’s 99 counties now have COVID-19 cases.

The majority of Iowans diagnosed with COVID-19 are 60 and younger; 318 compared to 179 among those over 60. Of those diagnosed with the virus, 61 are currently hospitalized, 33 have been discharged and are recovering, and 268 were diagnosed but did not need to be hospitalized.

Nearly 6900 people have tested negative for the coronavirus.
