Muscatine man says he drank too much at work; arrested for OWI

A Muscatine man who allegedly told police he had too much to drink at work was charged with an OWI.
According to police, they came upon 48-year-old Elias Lua of Park Avenue near the intersection of Highway 6 and Oasis Road in Iowa City, passed out in the back of his vehicle just after Midnight on Thursday.
Lua allegedly told police that he had too much to drink at work and admitted driving to his current location, when the vehicle broke down and he went to sleep.
Field testing reportedly showed signs of intoxication including bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol. A PBT showed a blood alcohol level of .253 and a subsequent Datamaster measured .228.
Lua was taken into custody and charged with first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
