Allegedly stealing a truck from the Sandy Beach Campground area has led to the arrest of a Cedar Rapids man.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Damien Medulan of 2nd Avenue Southwest broke into and stole a 2019 Ford F250 Super Duty truck parked on the 3400 block of Sandy Beach Road just after 2am Saturday.
Medulan was later stopped by Linn County Sheriff’s deputies, who noticed the window Medulan had allegedly broken to gain access to the truck. Investigators say Medulan admitted to engaging in the criminal conduct that resulted in his possession of the truck, although he claimed others had been involved as well.
Medulan is charged with 1st Degree Theft and 5th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of over ten years in prison.
