Recording video of a Nite Ride van led to the arrest of a University of Iowa student earlier this week.

Iowa City Police were called to the corner of Clinton and Washington Streets at 2am Wednesday for a subject who reportedly got on the Nite Ride van, then got out, then began shooting video of it.

Arriving officers met with the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Grant Peterson of West Des Moines. Peterson allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, was wearing multiple bar wristbands, and refused breath testing. Police say a search of his person turned up a fictitious Wisconsin driver’s license.

Peterson is charged with Public Intoxication and Possession of a Fictitious License. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.

A preliminary hearing is set for March 13th.
