The former director of the Iowa City Hillel House has been found guilty of molesting a 9 year old boy.
29 year old David Weltman was accused of second degree sexual abuse when police arrested him in September of 2019. The abuse allegedly happened when Weltman was giving the boy Hebrew lessons at the Hillel House between February 1 and March 31 of that year.
The victim told authorities that Weltman picked him up, carried him into another room and touched him inappropriately. One of Weltman’s acquaintances alleges that Weltman admitted that he touched a child and admitted that he’s attracted to young boys.
Weltman will be sentenced on April 27th.
