Allegedly cashing a forged check has led to a Coralville woman’s arrest.
Coralville Police say that 22-year-old Kianna Vanderhurst of Boston Way cashed a check for $861.27 on the account of Freshmex Cedar Rapids drawn from West Bank. Vanderhurst can be seen on security video cashing the check at the Coralville Walmart just after 1:30pm on September 17th.
The account manager at Freshmex Cedar Rapids told investigators that Vanderhurst had never worked for the company, had no reason to be paid by the company, and that the check was fraudulent.
Vanderhurst was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 2:45pm Tuesday and charged with Forgery and 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
