Four Iowa City parks will see improvements under plans approved by the Iowa City city council at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The council signed off on a $395,000 estimate for improvements to Fairmeadows, Napoleon and Scott Parks. The plan calls for replacing existing playgrounds and other structures at the three parks.

The council also set a cost estimate of $585,000 for improvements to Wetherby Park. Those improvements include a new, more accessible playground, as well as a redesign of the park’s shelter and restroom facilities.

The bids for both projects will be let on April 1st, with construction set to begin on April 20th. The projects are expected to be completed by October 30th.

The council also voted to amend city code to allow a 22,000 square-foot indoor dog park and recreation facility to be built at 2513 North Dodge Street.
