A Springdale woman was taken into custody, facing assault charges from an incident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics this past October.
According to police, 32-year-old Amanda Wittenburg was at the hospital on the morning of October 9th, and was reportedly upset. A nursing assistant attempted to calm Wittenburg down, and she allegedly responded by closing her fist and hitting the assistant twice on her left temple.
A registered nurse approached Wittenburg and was reportedly met with a punch to the upper part of the RN’s head, causing the victim’s head to hit a door. Subsequent dizziness and strong pain caused the RN to go to the emergency department for treatment.
A warrant was issued for Wittenberg on October 17th; she was booked into the Johnson CountyJail Thursday, facing two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations. If convicted on the counts, Wittenburg could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
