University of Iowa Police say an intoxicated Iowa City man attacked a UI Hospitals and Clinics security guard while being treated at the facility.

26-year-old Travis Vogel of Carriage Hill was brought to the UIHC by ambulance just after 3:15 Sunday morning due to his high intoxication level. Police say Vogel was in a hallway bed being belligerent and cursing loudly at staff and other patients, then tried to leave the facility against medical advice. At one point he allegedly put a UIHC security officer in a headlock and took a swing at a nurse.

Vogel’s blood alcohol content was measured at .205. He was arrested and charged with Assault On Persons In Certain Occupations, Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct. If convicted on all charges he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
