Cedar Rapids Police are investigating an incident where a white powdery substance was found in a letter sent to a freight trucking company.

According to public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, authorities were called to Don Hummer Trucking on 33rd Avenue Southwest around 9am Monday after someone reported a suspicious substance in a letter.

Two employees who were in a conference room were exposed to the substance, which was later found to be not harmful.

An unidentified individual allegedly applied for a job at the company but was not hired, and is accused of sending the letter. Police are working with postal inspectors on the investigation, and say charges are likely.
