An Iowa City man has been arrested after being accused of assaulting another moviegoer for talking on his phone.

According to police, 34-year-old Nicholas Glasgow of G Street was attending a late-night showing of the film “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” at the Marcus Sycamore Theatre on September 11th. Prior to the start of the movie, Glasgow reportedly contacted theatre staff and demanded that they speak to a man about his phone usage. Staff recalled Glasgow telling them to take care of it or he would.

At the conclusion of the movie around 1:15am, Glasgow is accused of approaching the man and friend and demanding that they apologize for ruining the film for him. Before the man could react, Glasgow allegedly began striking him in the face while he was still seated.

The two then began fighting, with the victim ending up on the ground with Glasgow kicking him while he was lying there. He reportedly suffered a cut to his head, swelling, soreness and redness to his face, and he had his glasses broken due to the alleged assault.

The description provided by the victim matched Glasgow’s driver’s license picture, which he had just updated earlier that day on his birthday.

A warrant was issued for Glasgow’s arrest, and he was booked into the Johnson County Jail early Monday morning. He’s been charged with 5th degree criminal mischief and assault causing bodily injury. If convicted on both counts, Glasgow could be sentenced to 13 months in jail.
