Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say was wanted for a pair of assaults last fall.
32-year-old Parish Bennett was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8am Thursday. Bennett is accused of assaulting a woman at his South 1st Avenue residence around 7am on October 9th. Police say Bennett became upset with a woman who would not let him drive her car. He allegedly punched her in the face, causing a swollen cheek and eye.
A second incident occurred just after 7:15am on December 20th, when Bennett allegedly entered his residence and engaged in a verbal exchange with a woman inside. Bennett was asked to leave, leading to him allegedly flinching his fist at her in an aggressive manner. Police say he then shoved a cup of coffee she was holding out of her hands, causing it to spill on her chest, causing pain. He fled the area before police could arrive.
Bennett faces two charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
