A convicted sex offender has been arrested and charged with violating the state’s registry.
36-year-old Michael Mazur, who currently lists his address as White Oak Avenue in Sutliff, was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 11am Friday. He was released just before 4 that afternoon.
Details of the Iowa Sex Offender Registry Violation allegedly committed by Mazur have not been released, although online records show he has had at least one previous conviction on the same offense. If convicted of the latest offense, Mazur faces a maximum of five years in prison.
The Iowa Sex Offender registry indicates Mazur was convicted of Criminal Sexual Abuse in Illinois in 2004. The victim is listed as a girl between the ages of 14 and 17.
