A Walmart cashier faces charges that she stole thousands of dollars from her register over the last two months.
Iowa City Police say 20-year-old Aramani Titus would on multiple occasions ring customers up while working at the Iowa City Walmart on Highway 1 West, then take a $100 bill out of the register and pocket it before closing the drawer. On other occasions Titus would allegedly grab a $50 gift card off the shelf, ring it up as if someone had purchased it, then keep it and sell it later.
Police say Titus took a total of $2,550 over the last two months.
Titus, who has a listed address of East Bloomington Street but currently holds an Illinois driver’s license, was arrested just before 6:15 Tuesday night and charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, she faces a maximum of five years in prison.
