Firefighters say an Iowa City woman almost struck their rig with her car, leading to her arrest for drunk driving.
The firefighters observed a Maroon Chevy Tahoe travelling near the corner of Gilbert and Burlington Streets just before 11:45 Thursday night. The front passenger of the Tahoe was observed hanging out of the window. The vehicle was also seen speeding and swerving, almost hitting the firetruck.
The driver, 27-year-old Brittney Snider of Arizona Avenue, was pulled over by Iowa City Police. Officers say she smelled of an alcoholic beverage, was wearing a bar wristband and admitted to drinking. She allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, and registered a blood alcohol content of .091 on a portable Breathalyzer test and .084 on a Datamaster.
Snyder was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
