A fight between panhandlers has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Iowa City Police say 60-year-old Eric Pedersen of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street and another man were panhandling at the corner of Clinton and College Streets just after 1:30 last Sunday morning. Pedersen approached the other man and shoved him. He then took the man’s panhandling sign and broke it in half.

Pedersen was arrested and charged with Assault. He pleaded guilty on Wednesday and was fined $65.
