A passenger hanging out the window of a speeding car has led to a Coralville man’s arrest.

Coralville Police observed a westbound car speeding on the Coralville Strip just after 2am Sunday. A man was hanging out the window as the vehicle sped by the patrol car. The vehicle then made an abrupt turn into the Advance Auto Parts parking lot and went behind the building.

The responding officer found three subjects behind the building, including the driver of the car, identified as 25-year-old Carlos Sierra of Boston Way. Sierra showed multiple signs of intoxication, was wearing bar wristbands, and admitted to drinking. He failed field sobriety tests, and his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit for driving.

Sierra was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
