A North Liberty man who allegedly threatened multiple people with a handgun while children were present has entered a guilty plea.
54-year-old Allan Rieken of Jaro Way entered the plea Tuesday in Johnson County District Court. Terms of the plea deal have not been released.
North Liberty Police were called to Rieken’s residence just after 6pm on July 18th. Witnesses say Rieken had been arguing with another individual when he allegedly pulled out a 9mm handgun and stated, “I’m going to shoot some cops and then you.” A woman present tried to step between Rieken and his target, but Rieken allegedly shoved her to the ground.
Several children were present during the altercation.
Rieken allegedly walked away from arriving officers when given specific commands. When taken into custody, the gun was found in his waistband.
Rieken is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon Provoking Fear, 1st Degree Harassment, Domestic Abuse Assault, Interference with Official Acts with a Dangerous Weapon and four counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 25 years in prison.
A sentencing date has not yet been set. A no-contact order has been put in place until September 18th of 2024.
