The Iowa State Patrol has released the name of the person killed in a six-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 Friday.
52-year-old Morgan Rosenthal of Iowa City was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol says a Chevy Malibu being driven by 25-year-old Shawn Inghram of Cedar Rapids was merging onto I-80 eastbound from Highway 218 northbound around 3pm when his vehicle experienced mechanical problems around mile marker 240. Inghram was unable to pull off the road due to construction and stopped in traffic, causing a chain reaction accident that involved six vehicles. No other injuries were reported.
Traffic was temporarily rerouted during the cleanup, leading to numerous delays. I-80 was finally reopened around 7pm.
