A reported brawl at an Iowa City convenience store has led to a Burlington man’s arrest.

According to arrest records, Iowa City Police were called to Kum & Go on South Riverside Drive just before 2:45 Sunday morning for a large fight with people getting hit by cars. Arriving officers noticed a blue Dodge back quickly out of a parking spot and leave at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned on Orchard Court toward a dead end.

Officers located the vehicle on the dead end. The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Jaden Poole of Burlington, allegedly fled on foot.

Police say Poole returned to the scene a few minutes later. He allegedly showed multiple signs of intoxication and referred to himself as intoxicated. Poole failed field sobriety tests, and registered a blood alcohol concentration of .137% on a Datamatser test.

Poole is charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Public Intoxication and Driving While Barred. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over three years in prison.

Poole has previous convictions out of Des Moines County, including 2nd Degree Burglary in 2015 and Assault Causing Bodily Injury in 2013.
