A North Liberty woman implicated in credit card thefts from the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center and other incidents earlier this year was arrested again over the weekend.
Police were called to an apartment building on Penn Oaks Drive Sunday morning at approximately 5:38am regarding a domestic issue. The arriving officer was met by two suspects, and other officers arrived to assist in taking statements.
While they were talking to the two subjects, 24-year-old Tamara Longmire came out of another apartment in the building and was observed to be upset.
The officer noted an odor of ingested alcohol; while he was speaking to Longmire, she ran up behind another officer, who told her to back off, but Longmire instead shoved the officer.
Officers placed Longmire in handcuffs and put her into a squad car. When asked how much she had to drink, she responded “not enough.” She gave a breath sample with an alcohol content above the legal limit.
Longmire was charged with public intoxication and assault on persons in certain occupations. If convicted on the charges, she could be sentenced to up over five years in prison.
Longmire and 20-year-old TaShanna Hernton of Coralvillle are accused of stealing phones, cash, credit and debit cards from the locker room at the Wellness Center on May 24th, then going to Coral Ridge Mall and racking up nearly $1300 in fraudulent charges on goods and services. Longmire faces up to seven years in prison for that incident, and will be arraigned on August 23rd.
She was also charged with 3rd degree theft for an incident that occurred July 10th; Longmire will be arraigned on August 29th for that charge. And she was due to be arraigned Monday on criminal mischief and child endangerment charges from an incident on May 29th.
