A lobbyist group was publicly reprimanded after they allegedly spread false rumors about a state representative.
CBS2 reports the group “Bitches Get Stuff Done” posted an Iowa GOP burn book on its website, detailing alleged facts about Republican lawmakers, including a rumor that 45-year-old Samantha Fett of Carlisle was a former stripper.
Heather Ryan, a spokesperson for the group said they post information on all politicians, including their addresses, prior professions and phone numbers so that people can get ahold of their legislators. She said she got a tip from a constituent that Fett was a former stripper, and said that there was no reason for her to not believe it.
Fett said they published the information based on rumor and as a way to harm her.
Wednesday, a bipartisan ethics committee unanimously gave a formal reprimand to the group for not adhering to lobbyist ethics and rules.
