National Democrats have their sights set on three US Representatives from Iowa , saying they have a chance to be ousted in the 2026 midterms.
The Des Moines Register reports the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced this morning it’s eyeing races in Iowa’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd congressional districts — seats currently represented by Republican U.S. Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Ashley Hinson and Zach Nunn respectively.
DCCC chairperson Suzan DelBene told the Register, “From tanking the economy, gutting Medicaid, abandoning our veterans, to making everything more expensive, they’ve broken their promises to Iowans, and it’s going to cost them their seats.”
State Democratic legislators expressing interest in running against Zach Nunn include state Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott, House Minority Leader Jennifer Konfrst and state Rep. Austin Baeth. Candidates to run against Miller-Meeks and Hinson haven’t been made clear yet.
Meanwhile, a new Iowa grassroots organization consisting of MAGA-aligned activists and free from party constraints has begun regular meetings. Co-Founders James McLaughlin, Kelley Koch and Sarah Ghrist recently held a launch party for their new organization: MAGA Nation Networks. McLaughlin told the Register, ” … I don’t drink the Trump Kool-Aid, but I am dedicated to his principles, because I think they’re a good fit for Iowa and for our country. And if he supports a candidate, I will be there too.”
