Cedar Rapids man arrested on Attempted Murder charge for February shooting incident

Cedar Rapids police have a suspect in custody in regards to a shooting that occurred in February.

A release from the Police Department says officers were dispatched to the alley in the 500 block between 8th and 9th Ave SW on February 7th for the report of a shooting. First responders arrived and found a 45-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The Criminal Investigations Division of the Cedar Rapids Police Department conducted an investigation into this shooting incident.

As a result of their investigation, arrest warrants were served on 34-year-old Ray Robertson Jr of Cedar Rapids. He was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury, Possession of a Firearm as a Felon, Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the commission of a crime, and Person Ineligible to carry a Dangerous Weapon. If convicted on the attempted murder charge alone, Robertson Jr could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
