Tennessee man faces felony charges after highway stop

A Tennessee man faces a prison term after a traffic stop allegedly found him intoxicated and carrying drugs.

23-year-old Salat Dure of Memphis was stopped on Highway 218 South March 24th at 1:41 am for speeding.  Upon contact, the vehicle allegedly had the strong odor of marijuana, causing a vehicle search.

Dure was patted down, and authorities discovered a small green pill that field tested positive for amphetamines.  He reportedly admitted it was Ecstasy after his rights were read to him.  A pistol was also found that Dure admitted was his.

He was charged with a Class C Controlled Substance violation and Person Ineligible to Carry Firearms.  If convicted on both counts, Dure could be sentenced to up to 11 years in prison.
