A St. Louis man was arrested Sunday morning in Johnson County after leading authorities on a multi-county pursuit.

The incident started at approximately 6:15 when a Lee County deputy attempted to stop 46-year-old Elijah Childs for speeding 20 miles over the posted 65 miles per hour speed limit on Highway 218.  Childs allegedly refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

A state trooper picked up the pursuit in Henry County and activated lights and siren as the lead vehicle in the chase.  During the pursuit, Childs was reportedly paced at speeds of 115 miles per hour or more.

The chase came to an end in Johnson County after Childs hit stop sticks. He was taken into custody and charged with Eluding at over 25 miles per hour over posted speed limits, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
