A Clinton Iowa man was arrested early Saturday morning after a traffic stop reportedly found him with a weapon while driving intoxicated.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Carroll Street and Highland Avenue just before 3am. 32-year-old Jeremy Roberson was traveling eastbound with a non-functioning brake light and was stopped. The officer approached the vehicle and detected an odor of marijuana. Roberson was reportedly observed with bloodshot watery eyes and was asked to step out.

A holstered firearm was then allegedly observed at his feet, and Roberson stated it was his. Field testing showed measurable impairment, and a PBT allegedly showed him over the legal limit to drive. A subsequent Datamaster registered his breath-alcohol level at .114 percent.

Roberson faces charges of 1st offense OWI and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon while Intoxicated. He could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
