A Cedar Rapids man has been charged with two counts of prostitution after investigators alleged he purchased services from a Hiawatha man convicted of forcing a minor to have sex with men in exchange for money.
Jarod Anderson and Tana Torres were arrested this past July after being accused of bringing a minor from Dubuque to Cedar Rapids in May 2024, giving her drugs, and forcing her into prostitution. Anderson faces life in prison when he’s sentenced today. Torres took a plea deal on March 5th
During investigation into the case, 61-year-old Mark Schwake’s phone number was reportedly found in Anderson’s cell records. The Gazette reports in conversations between Dec. 12, 2023, and June 26, 2024, Schwake offered to purchase sexual services from another person and asked for photos and details of the services.
A warrant was issued March 20th; Schwake was arrested Sunday on two counts of prostitution. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted on both charges. He was released on his own recognizance after Monday’s initial hearing.
