An area transient wanted for an alleged assault incident was reportedly found with meth when arrested Monday.

27-year-old Boni Mushalangwa was the subject of a theft call on the 1800 block of Lower Muscatine Road at 5:12am. He was located on scene and reportedly matched the description of the reporting party.  Mushalangwa was placed under arrest due to an outstanding warrant, and a post-arrest search allegedly turned up a used glass pipe with suspected meth residue, and a syringe containing a substance consistent with the drug.

Mushalangwa was wanted due to an incident at UIHC main campus March 25th. While in the ER at around 7:25 am, he allegedly became combative and struck a registered nurse in the face, giving them loose teeth, a bloody mouth and swelling around the jaw. Mushalangwa struck a second staff member, breaking his glasses and inflicting several scratches to the left side of his face.

Mushalangwa is also accused of throwing a meal tray which struck and damaged a computer screen.

He was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations with Intent to Injure, Assault causing Bodily Injury, and 3rd degree criminal mischief. Mushalangwa also was charged with a 2nd offense Controlled Substance violation and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges between the two incidents, he faces a prison term of up to over ten years.
