Minnesota men arrested after allegedly stealing baseball gear from UI

Three Minnesota men were arrested Sunday after they allegedly stole baseball gear from the University of Iowa.

Police say the incident occurred at around 1:30am at the Jacobsen Athletic Building on Evashevski Drive. 19-year-old Carter Oney of Becker, 18-year-old Kaysen Platz of Big Lake, and 19-year-old Jeffery Wanhala of Big Lake allegedly stole about $2000 worth of baseball equipment from the building.

The three were subsequently located while trespassing in Kinnick Stadium and were identified.

Oney, Platz and Wanhala were each charged with 3rd degree Burglary and 2nd degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, the Minnesota men could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
