A suspect in a Coralville forgery case is now accused of multiple sexual assaults in Illinois.

29-year-old James Ginneberge of the Iowa Lodge is also accused of skipping a March 10th arraignment in the forgery case. Police say Ginneberge was seen on video during the afternoon of September 27th, 2024 at CBI Bank and Trust on Holiday Road. He allegedly passed a counterfeit check made out to him for $4856.75.

Ginneberge faces one count of Forgery, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years, if he’s convicted.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office now says they were contacted on Thursday morning by the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, which says Ginneberge had warrants there for four counts of Aggravated Criminal Sex Abuse. Ginneberge was being held at the Washington County Jail while awaiting extradition to Iowa City.

No further details about the Rock Island case have been released. Ginneberge entered a “not guilty” plea to the forgery charge on Friday, and a new case management conference is set for May 5th.

Ginneberge has a previous forgery conviction out of Johnson County as well as a pair of assault with injury convictions for biting his sister in Tiffin and biting a University of Iowa Health Care security guard.
