A viral social media post claims to show a man armed with a knife outside a University of Iowa student’s apartment door.
The original Facebook post was made by the student’s mother earlier this week, and as of Saturday morning it has been shared over 240 times.
The post includes a photo from a Ring camera of a man in a gold Hawkeye sweatshirt holding a knife to the camera. The poster says the incident happened at her daughter’s apartment, which is owned by Apartments at Iowa. The exact address is not listed.
The woman says she checked with Iowa City Police, who allegedly identified the man as a homeless drug user. More Ring footage reportedly revealed the man had been there one other time.
The poster claims she has complained to Apartments at Iowa about three of the four locks on the building’s exterior doors being broken. She says she was told the locks have been fixed before, but the students living in the building always break them.
The man in the photo is not identified by name.
