Marion man charged with OWI after truck nearly falls in river

A Marion man was charged with OWI Sunday after nearly rolling his truck in to the Iowa River.

According to the arrest report, 28 year –old Brandon Jones Turner of 15th Street was operating a 2018 Toyota Tacoma pickup just before 9pm as he headed northbound on I380 on the Curtis Bridge.

Jones Turner was reportedly looking at his phone and lost control, causing the truck to flip onto its top and land within inches of the Iowa River.

Upon contact, he allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and the odor of ingested alcohol. He reportedly admitted to drinking 2 Coors Light beers before driving. After field tests showed signs of impairment, he agreed to a PBT showing that he was over the legal limit to drive. A subsequent Datamaster measured his breath-alcohol level at .104 percent.

Jones Turner was charged with first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year if convicted.
