Coralville man with history of petty theft convictions arrested

A Coralville man with a history of petty theft convictions was arrested for separate incidents last month.

On February 21, police say 30-year-old Terron Petersen of Holiday Road was at the Qwik Star on Keokuk Street at approximately 6:30pm with a juvenile, who reportedly acted as a lookout while he took about $45 worth of merchandise without paying. The juvenile allegedly came in with a reusable shopping bag that Petersen used to take the merchandise out of the store.

Then on the 27th, Petersen allegedly shoplifted over $120 in merchandise and left the Walmart on Highway 1.

A check of criminal records showed there previous 5th degree theft convictions in March last year, and a 3rd degree theft conviction the following June. For the February incidents, Peterson faces two counts of 3rd degree Theft and one count of Child Endangerment. If convicted on the three charges, he could be sentenced to over four years in prison.
