A bill restricting cellphone use by K-12 students in classrooms is closer to becoming law.
The Iowa Senate passed the bill Monday after the House previously voted to approve the legislation.
The two bills differ in its implementation timeline. The Senate version goes back to the House for approval; if it meets approval, it will head to Governor Kim Reynolds’ desk for her signature.
Under the legislation, all public school districts in Iowa would be required to adopt by July 1 minimum standards for restrictions on personal electronic devices.
