An Iowa City man was arrested after conducting a drug transaction in front of police.
According to the arrest report, 34-year-old Percy Williams of Eastbrook Street was a passenger in a vehicle and was observed by plainclothes detectives engaging in a hand-to-hand drug transaction.
The vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation shortly after the transaction, and the odor of marijuana was allegedly detected. A probable cause search reportedly turned up a bag containing over 43 grams of raw marijuana in various packaging consistent with drug sales.
Williams was arrested and charged with Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, Keeping Vehicle for Controlled Substances, and a Controlled Substance violation. He faces a prison sentence of up to twelve years if convicted on all counts.
