A Marion man faces possible jail time after a traffic stop in Johnson County allegedly discovered marijuana and a firearm in his possession.

25-year-old Donald Adams was stopped on the Interstate 80 East on-ramp off Highway 218 March 8th at 2:24 am for reportedly speeding over 20 miles over the posted speed limit.  Deputies conducted a probable cause search incident to arrest and allegedly found marijuana on his person and a Glock handgun within his reach.

Adams was charged with marijuana possession and person ineligible to carry a firearm, both serious misdemeanors. He was released on his own recognizance at his initial appearance, pending future court dates. If convicted on the charges, Adams could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
