Coralville man stopped for speeding in Iowa City faces drug charges

A Coralville man faces felony charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs in his vehicle.

35-year-old David Roberts of North Ridge Drive was stopped Saturday at approximately 8:05pm on Dubuque Street for allegedly traveling at 12 miles an hour over the posted speed limit.  A subsequent search of his vehicle reportedly located over 2200 grams of marijuana and about 6 grams of psychedelic mushrooms. Plastic baggies associated with drug distribution and two scales were also allegedly found.

Roberts was arrested. He’s charged with a Controlled Substance violation, Marijuana possession, Keeping Vehicle for Controlled Substances, Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He could be sentenced to over 13 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
