A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a beating that left the victim unconscious on the Ped Mall late last year.

36-year-old Jared Reed of Crawfordsville was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 12:30 Saturday morning.  Iowa City Police say Reed joined two other people…22-year-old Ryan Maschmann and 21-year-old Landan Provino, both of Wayland…in attacking another person on the 100 block of East College Street just before 12:15 on the morning of December 14th. Provino allegedly held the victim’s arms behind their back as Reed struck the person in the face. Once the victim was on the ground, all three attackers reportedly punched, kicked and stomped the victim into unconsciousness.

The victim suffered injuries including a broken nose, a broken finger, lacerations to the ear and lip that required stitches, facial bruising and injuries, elbow and knee abrasions, and a laceration to the back of the head.

Reed, Maschmann and Provino are each charged with Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury and Participating in a Riot. If convicted on both counts, they each face a maximum of ten years in prison.
