A Waterloo man was taken into custody early Tuesday after a traffic stop turned up a weapon and ammo in his vehicle.
Just before 12:30am, 27-year-old Brandon Wood was allegedly observed on I380 northbound in Coralville speeding, committing lane violations, and not displaying plates properly. When stopped, a probable cause search was conducted, and reportedly turned up a .22 caliber AR and multiple .22 rounds in the trunk of his 1990 Ford Crown Victoria.
Wood has multiple felony convictions and as such is not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition.
He was charged with Dominion or Control of A Firearm as a Felon, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
