A North Liberty man who was stopped for having a non-working license plate light and stop bar faces several serious charges after he was allegedly found with drugs.
49-year-old Luis Socarras Ramos of East Zeller Street was stopped at around 12:45 am Saturday in Oxford for the equipment violations. A check of his driving status showed that he was revoked due to a previous OWI.
During a post-arrest search, a pipe containing methamphetamine was reportedly located. In addition, a baggie containing white residue and live ammunition was also allegedly found. Socarras-Ramos is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess weapons or ammo.
He was charged with Dominion or Control of Weapons or Ammunition by a Felon, a controlled substance violation, driving while revoked, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all counts, Socarras-Ramos could be sentenced to up to over seven years in prison.
